Google acquires GrandCentral

Google has officially announced it is acquiring telephone management company GrandCentral. Wesley Chan, Google Product Manager explains why Google acquired the company.

"We think GrandCentral’s technology fits well into Google’s efforts to provide services that enhance the collaborative exchange of information between our users," said Chan.

Some of the features of GrandCentral:

One central telephone number connected to other phone numbers

One central voice mailbox for all your phone numbers

Listen to your voice messages while the message is being recorded

Switch a call from your cell to your work phone and back to your cell again

Some observers covered this development while it was still being rumored to happen, and there are some interesting “instant analysis” reactions.
