Google will host a Web 2.0 developer conference in MayAdd to Mar. 12, 2008
On Monday, Google said it will be hosting a Web 2.0 developers' conference May 28 and 29. The event will cover a broad range of topics related to Web 2.0 application development. Known to many as "Google I/O" the conference will be held at the Moscone Center in San Francisco, CA. Web 2.0 developers can obtain tickets to the conference for $400. Google said that discounts will be available for students wishing to participate in the two-day gathering. Overall, Google's engineers said that they won't only discuss the company’s own developer products, but will also cover application development in general, whether or not they are related to search or not The broad range of topics covered at the planned Web 2.0 conference will include tools and techniques related to Ajax and JavaScript which are both heavily used in Web 2.0 application development. Google's engineers will also discuss other tools available for tapping into Internet APIs (application programming interfaces), Google’s own developer toolkit, newer APIs and development frameworks to better integrate into Web 2.0 and social networks. There will also be other technologies that will be discussed such as Google's Android and Mobile Gears for building various Web 2.0 applications. Additionally, the Mountain View company plans to cover geo-based and mapping applications, with a focus on various technologies such as Google Maps API to keyhole its markup language, with a brief overview of Google's new Mashup technology. Overall, there will be several Google engineers present at the conference, such as Josh Bloch, Dion Almaer, Jeff Dean, David Glazer, Chris DiBona, Guido van Rossum, Steve Souders and Alex Martelli that will be conducting the various sessions and workshops.
